Her everything
Her about this...
The night
the way and the walk.
It speaks to me.
It's Saturday
got nothing
am nothing
and yet everything
is somehow something
on the holiest day of all.
It all adds up:
Her double or nothing grin
glaring black and white lights
her flair for the dramatic
pulls me in by the feet
whenever the music starts
and even
when it stops
for the space
of a skipping stone
heart beat.
Really, it never stops...
it keeps going,
till the end
till the bottles are empty
and the smiles are full
at least call
you may not be able to stay hear
but you never have to go home
unless
she's waiting for you...

Interesting, I like the last couple of lines that play off the semisonic Closing Time. : ) Hope you are having a good weekend!
Very much impressed, especially considering what was happening.
I love the line about her flair for the dramatic pulling you to your feet.
This woman you write so much about, she dances, enchants, tempts, challenges... what else?
Best wishes, Eric. I hope all is going well and that you are in as best of spirits as you possibly could be.
My thoughts are with you, Eric. Hang in there. I hope your aunt isn't in pain. :|
have faith! hope heals.

May the good bartender keep a cold one on waiting...
and the words
keep flowing.....
Prayers and thoughts, my friend

Thank you for always checking on me. Your loyalty and kindness always makes such a difference when i feel like walking away from the blog. Even at my lowest of lows I get relief from all kindness others here rain on me.

its beautiful!!
are the women in your life a particularly strong influence? are you weakened in their presence? for me it's been both. your words capture that relationship nicely.
warm hopeful thoughts to your aunt.
I liked that whole thing about "nothing." The part where you played on the wording.
sending waves and waves of serene thoughts and prayers on ibeati
Very cool how you constructed this one. I love the ending.
I hope you are doing well, and that your aunt is recovering. Thinking of you!
You can't live with them, you can't live without them.
Just to let you know I stopped by. I haven't been blogging for a few weeks as I guess you may have noticed. Beautiful poem.
I miss you Eric! I hope you are well and I pray your Aunt Theresa is healing.
Just thinking about you :)
Lindy

Peace and love from Detroit.

unless shes waiting for you makes me think that without her there, home would just be a place...
beautiful, as always, dear eric
You got it perfectly, Skinny.
That line sounds sad to some people but I meant it to be something to reflect on, to feel better about. Like our memories are our flashlights, you know?
