Love Letters to Nowhere

I'll keep a storm candle lit,
so we can all find our way
on these dark roads home.

I'll keep the fire burning
through the midnight chill
so we won't be blinded
by the cold night ahead

I'll keep the flames stoked
as we scratch love letters
to the middle of nowhere
under the full moon grin,
wrapped in the west wind

I'll keep this storm candle
burning until the dawn--
under the billion star fires
at the crossroads of home.

A song, open and expressive with a real sense of place and of expansive emotion, sung with great energy and belief. Cool and clear.

Hmm

A tumbling country ballad, maybe.

Indomitable hope. I like it. Or maybe I'm just projecting again. :)

Is this a song? Do you put them to music?

I saw your profile. Fight Club is one of my favorite films. I watch it often. The book was a strange read, but just amazing.

Love is like that. Yes it is.

Like the sense of togetherness with this one.

The light is a great motif. Have you heard the song Indifference by Pearl Jam? This poem makes me think of it--Ben Harper does a cover of it that kicks tail!

I see you've met my new friend, Lance. He's cool. He puts the Christ back in Christianity--a good soul.

Hello my friend, I see you are doing well and still writing up a storm.

Thanks for always encouraging me to still write.

Yep.

I once carried a torch for somebody for 20 years.

This is very hard on the vinyl on Greyhound buses.

Not sleeping? I can sing you a lullaby, if you'd like to go on not sleeping.

The poem evokes something I've always longed for: home.

I like the imagery of scratching love letters under a grinning moon. Lovely!

Thank you, you put a good spin on this. And I like the idea of a song from it. I wasn't thinking that, but I try to make the lines have perfect rhythm, so I guess it could be adapted.

Ultra Toast

It could be. Or a Robert Johnson-esque blues.

I sold my soul for poetic justice, and all I got was this silly blog!

Sandy

Thank you! Your observations are awesome. And I try to have pathos in my writing. I think it works, don't you?

Lisa

You may be projecting, but it's a good projection.

Take care, you!

Peace out.

I don't put them to music, but I get told all the time that that would work.

And I love Fight Club. Oddly enough, I never read the book. But one day, I will.

Brian

Love will wait. Not always patiently, but it will be there wit a fire lit for it's counterpart.

Peace you all.

Karma Lennon

Thank you. It's one waiting for the second, and what will happen? They become one! In a fun way, I'm sure...

Enemy

Lance is a cool guy. His blog is filled with good thoughts on the subject of faith.

I love the light/dark motif. I use it a little too much, but hey, I get by.

Thanks, you two. Peace.

Write as much as you can. I had to get years worth of bad writing out of the way before I could do this.

Thank you for your compliments.

Barb

Awesome to see you. I hoped you were well. Lets all get some stuff going at the poet's corner!

Blanco

No, thank you, my friend.

I insist!

Leigh

I haven't sent out in a long time. Too long! I get a lot of people saying the same thing. I need to do it soon...

I'm not sure where she has gone. I hope she returns. Her words were a real trip.

Princess

Yes, it does indeed. And it will.

Thank you. The title loves you, too!
=D

Lance

I actually have you linked, if it's all good...

Peace out.

Singleton

The fire will always be lit!

And if you're with Princess, then you too are loved by my title.

peace and love, my friend.

Now you're singing the blues!

God bless greyhound. Makes for a convenient ride in and a likewise getaway.

Marissa

You give me a sense of hope. Thank you for reading here.

Home is were the hearth is. It can also be where the hat hangs, the fridge hums and the band plays.

No need for a lullaby. Plenty of cappuccino here.

Bemused

Be by soon, my friend.

The moon is the best night light around. Along with the fire, there is no end of romance.

Maithri

You are love and light. You spread it everywhere!
