Been a long ride....
the gears scream
and whine
and sputter out a tune
that compliments
the road
gone,
bye....
the road....
well, she could care less
for petty pretty-faced
compliments and words
that disappear into air
as the wind carries them
to the sea...
she sings her own song
that stings each and every
traveler gone by...
about the days and nights
blended seamlessly
endtoendtofrontobackagain
she sings her song
and all you need to do is
listen:
because it won't stop
until we kiss the sun
on top of Mount Sinai
it won't ever stop
'til the grass won't grow
or the river won't flow
Been a long ride...
and it just won't stop
until one of us
saves the other's
beleaguered
beknighted
bejeweled
denim and flannel
shrouded
soul
Been a long ride,
and a million more
miles and bumps
and heartbeats
to go

Good to see you back!
God, that MUST have been one long ride :)
Quite fast paced, this piece....
A whirlwind of images :)

Man, thank you so much.
For a few days I was trying to hard, and I wrote several things I didn't like....
Then I talked to an old friend and let the words go and 20 minutes later it's all done.
And let me say, you are fast today! I just put this one up.

thank you for the word, Sandy. Glad to see you.
Take care
Enjoyed it. Good to see you.
Charles! Good to see you too.
Man, I'm happy to be home.....
You guys are the best
I love the fact that you are giving the road her voice, after all she has seen. Happy to see you back, sir.
Princess
Well I'm happy to be had back!
And of course.... I should have given the road an even more clear voice than I did... In future offerings, it shall be done...
Everything and everyone has a voice, after all, just gotta listen for it.
This piece reminds me so of a young boy in the film, "August Rush", inspired to write music by everything he sees. Beautiful!
Am so happy Sandy at I Beati's spotlighted you today! Petra
Sigh.
You know I'm all about this.
Map....
in shades of blue and blacktop
of all you've been....
Yeah,
you've still got it, friend,
wrapped around your little finger!
I wonder what the postcards would have been like!
Welcome home, Eric, you've been missed!
Petra Michelle
Wonderful to meet a new face. Thank you for the kind words. And I'll have to see August Rush, sounds like a great one.
Ultra Toast
It's as though I wrote it for you! You have been a mighty globe trotter as of late. I'll be glad to catch up with your adventures soon.
Singleton
I have it, you have it.... we've got it! Lets run with it and write the words like steps on the dance floor....
Peace and love, Blue Lady.
I've missed you all too.
It never fails when I sit down to write poetry, the words clunk all over the page. I say to myself, "Might as well do a grocery list." Not you though. The words flow ... and hesitate ... when necessary.
JR
But your forte is in real life honest stories. You have a great gift, too.
Glad to see you still hanging in there.
Thanks for the visit
you're back, you're back!!!
and as prolific as ever, i see.

Not a problem, and of course, yes it does.... that was only my interpretation of your words, but it rang true for me.
Cool! Take care and write much!
p.s. Eric, if you enjoy film, on Whose Role...is a mini-film script to read and a poll of actors/
actresses on right to play the
various characters. Hope you enjoy GODIVAS! Thank you again, Eric. Petra

bye bye
*laughing* Eric, yes, lots of play on words here.
The name/word cocoa, Godivas inspired by Lady Godiva, love of chocolate, chocolate as an aphrodisiac. I considered the title of GO-DIVAS representing two great divas, but that would have been choppy.
I'm glad it put a smile on your face. That's all I hope for. Thanks again, Eric. Have a wonderful day! Petra
Karma Lennon

Benjibopper
You too, you are another one who this poem is tailor made for. You understand the beat life as good as any.

Hossam
I try to keep it simple...
It just does not always work so well.
And yes, I'll drop by and see you as well soon. Greetings and I hope you like what you read here.
Petra Michelle
It was a pleasure to read your mini script, sorry I forgot to vote on the lead role...
Kate Winslette would be an awesome Lady Godiva, methinks....
Me knows...
;)
Take care all and see you soon!
"Been a long ride,
and a million more
miles and bumps
and heartbeats
to go"
This can so be the story of my life. Yet another powerful, inspiring and absolutely fab poem eric.
No wonder you have been utterly missed :) cheers
Of course, no one can save another's anything, really, but I do like the sentiment, nonetheless. This poem reminds me of some of my younger days.
I like this very much!
