To live forever listingthrough every season,
to see every sun rise
(not just this one...)
To see every smile
every skip and fall
and that's OK, I'm up...
Every eye caught by another
(out of the corner, shhhhh...)
(ain't that how it always goes...)
To breathe every bit of music
and hear every rush of wind
from your lovers lips
between the words
"Hello"
or
"I love you..."
or
"Come here."
To catch every golden ray of sun
and be kissed by every
dream with eyes like the moon
with a a good story, a rose
a rhythm to match your thrum
To catch every drift
and float on every breeze
and drink every drop
that she pours into our cups
That would be the life.
But for now
(as long as you are here with me
in this sweet crush
of our lifetimes)
I'll settle, happily
for just this one
sunrise

Above: A sunrise over a quiet, peaceful lake.
Below: There are always two suns in a sunset, correct? At least on the planet Tatooine, in that galaxy far, far away... (from the movie Star Wars: A New Hope)

I've missed a lot of sunsets and sunrises. Some day I will probably wish I hadn't.
I'm doing what I can to improve Charles' viewings of sunsets & sunrises, so don't worry about that. ;) Your poem mirrors my feelings for him, too. Very nice.
Oh yes, you and Omar Khayam.
But I also think of old, phoney Goethe, watching a beautiful woman offer up her lovemaking, obseriving the loveliness of her hair, her back, and hardly being able to wait until he gets home to write his story.
The lover is happy, but the writer an everlack.
Which experience is the most authentic?
But I fear I have become something like an aging Picasso without the talent, dreaming, in his images of love when he no longer could love...
Oh-oh. The early morning "heavies".
Jacques Berzun:
"More people f*ck than philosophize."
...Which is the most authentic?
Glad to have ya back . Thought you had walkabout .
Thanks everyone.

Whether alone or not I actually get to catch a lot of sunrises due to my insomnia. So it's kind of a blessing to me in that respect. But like being alone or not, sometimes the clouds cover the beauty, and others it pours on through without hindrance.
Catch a few more...
Ivan
Yeah, I'm kind of in that place with Goethe. I sometimes feel phoney too, but don't we all get to feel that way a little too often? I would rather write this than rail about being alone over and over... that was what I did when I was 16 and none of that was fun to read or write, nor did it ever help the situation once. But it had to be done, those words had to be given breath, or I would not be here.
As for Picasso and yourself, you should never underestimate the power of the dark side. Your talent is recognized, but would perhaps be more so if you worked in a medium where people can come along and in 30 seconds they look you art over and walk on to the next piece. Literature is much more involved, so people more and more often do not have the time to invest in it, or themselves, for that matter.
So leave the talentless dreaming to people like me. You aren't exactly in that group.

Almost was a walkabout... In spirit it was a mini walkabout. Life happening in the midst of poorly conceived plans, as per usual.
Hope all is well with you, and glad you are keeping up with me here.
two sunrises? I don't want more than one sun here, since it shines too brightly where I live and makes the temperature soar to 49 degrees celcius!
:P
Oh, dang it all. Here comes the sun.
Still ever the optimist :)
I just love these lines:
To catch every golden ray of sun
and be kissed by every
dream with eyes like the moon
with a a good story, a rose
a rhythm to match your thrum
To catch every drift
and float on every breeze
and drink every drop
that she pours into our cups

Sometimes just that one sunset is all you need. Sometimes too many is just information overload, sensory cacophony.
